Diving in taranaki

The club has many active divers, and most are used to making the most of conditions that the Taranaki coast offers.

During summer, fantastic diving visibility can be had on many varied sites close to shore and further afield.

Winter diving can become more challenging, not just with reduced water temperature’s, but also reduced visibility.Water temperatures vary during the year. During winter the sea surface temperature can drop to 12 degrees, and during summer can hit peaks of 21 / 22 degrees, though 20/21 degrees is typical from Janurary to April.

Club members participate in a range of activities including:

  •  Underwater photography
  •  Spearfishing / freediving
  •  Cray hunting
  •  Scenic diving within the various marine reserves off the Taranaki coast

Compressor / Air fills

The club operates it’s own air compressor. Compressor operates on Weds, Fri, Sat and Sun 5.30-6.00pm during Daylight saving hours, and reduced to Weds, Sat and Sun 5.30-6.00pm during winter.

  Single Fill Concession (12 Fills)
Non-member  $6.50 $60
Member $5.00  $50

If you require an air fill service and no one is available in the compressor room, or it is outside the normal operating hours, give Keith Armstrong a call (067513363 / 0274313966) a for potential fill.

Make sure tanks are in test.

Keys (same as boat wash keys) are available for $15.00 for the drop off and pick up of tanks from the locker outside of the above operating hours.  A boat wash key will open the locker – leave your tank to be filled and pick it up after the next scheduled compressor filling time. You can buy a key from the bar or see the compressor operators.
